So my Rebbe told over a very geshmache voort on what is the same and different between Purim and Chanukah.
Purim, which happened before Chanuak involved all of Klal Yisroel. There were many miracles, but every Jew was involved, and the evil wanted to actually physically destroy us.
Chanukah, which happened after Purim involved only 13 men. Only the Chashmanoim were fighting for the Klal. The Greeks didn't want to kill the people of Yisroel, instead they wanted to kill our spirituality. They wanted to take Torah from us and make us like them. The Chashmanoim realized that it wouldn't be long before that was going to happen, and were the recipients of many miracles in battle. The used guerilla warfare and Hashems help to defeat the largest army in the world at the time.
So the difference is that the evil in Purim wanted to kill us, while the evil in Chanukah wanted to kill our Torah... obviously what makes them similar were the miracles that G-d lovingly bestowed upon us, and the success which kept us alive and with our Torah.
afrelikin chanukah!!
