Don't get me wrong, I like where I work.  And over the last 15 years I've given plenty of blood for my employer. But since my former Hindu boss was deposed (federal employment issue), my tasks - thus my work load has dwindled to less than an hour a day.

I think most people would tell me that to get paid as much as I do for the work I'm NOT doing is a great deal.

    Not for me.

I'd rather be busy every second of the day. Even bypassing lunch, for the entire day than to be BORED.

So what say you out there?  Are you like me, a hard working guy who would rather earn it than it be given to him?  Or are you the kind that would consider this a good deal and can't understand why I'm complaining?

As a Jew. I think I can certainly appreciate the concept of putting in a good hard day's work. At the same time. My last career involved me busting my tail, putting in 10 and a half hour days at the end of which I was usually exhausted and sore. Now for the past ten years, I have worked in Corrections. I work graveyard shift now and a large part of my night for the most part is fairly quiet. I often tell people. " My job is 98% boredom, 2% sheer terror."
It's that 2% that the government is paying me for. As for the down time. I find time to study Talmud/Torah/etc... granted we aren't supposed to read on post but it's one of those things everyone does. So I make use of the downtime to catch up on studies.
Where else can i get paid a good wage to study Torah? study scratch study
Honestly, I can't complain because if I were at a job where it was non-stop go, then I would have less time to dedicate to Torah.

Arik - don't let anyone important know that that's what your doing..... lol

I know how you feel though. Today was one of those days where I'm glad that I like my job. We were in full lockdown, and my workload quadrupled. It was INSANE!!! But, it all worked out and we all went home at the end of the down.

I agree that I like my downtime, but it's fulfilling to know that I can handle those stressful and sometimes odd situations.
