I drove from my cousins' house in Bkln to MetLive Stadium in Jersey to partake in Siyum HaShas.
For those who don't know; The Talmud Bavli takes 7.5 years to complete if you learn it one page a day. Rabbi Meir Shapiro zatzal designed a way for all Jews around the world to learn Torah each morning - the same page, the same day, by all Jews. He presented it an an annual Aguduth Israel conference in the '20's.
Today, hundreds of thousands of Jews study Daf Yomi (Daily Page) every day.
This was the 12th completion (Siyum) of Daf Yomi, a very significant accomplishment.
While I have not completed Shas myself, my father in law has done so twice, and I am starting this week.
Here are a few pictures from the Siyum, and a youtube video. The pictures show the layout and sheer magnitudinal number of Yiddin at the stadium. The video was taken just after Rabbi Aaron Kotler shlita said Kaddish upon completion of the last line in Shas - then the crowd erupted. Absolutely beautiful.
