I used to daily..For some time I have kinda slacked on it. I still usually keep one for the vehicle and of course my bedside .45. Fortunately I haven't needed it.

Re: How often do you carry?
Even though I own and gun, and have a valid PA concealment permit, I don't carry at all. I didn't grow up with the idea that I needed to, and in some weird way, I still don't. Although, times are changing and I think that I'm going to start. A little bit at a time. Although, the only issue that I have is that I'm not sure where it's appropriate to carry. Are there places that it's unacceptable to carry? (I'm talking about places within PA... I know that my license is not valid in MD and some other states).
Is there a good website that I can go to that would direct me? For instance, should I be carrying when I go to the movies? What about a diner where I might have a beer or a glass of wine? Unfortunately, I do know that I can't take my sidearm with me to work. The last guy that got caught with his sidearm in his vehicle got a 3-day suspension.

Re: How often do you carry?
In Pa, the laws are rather lenient as to where you can carry. Yes u can carry your firearm concealed into a movie theater, a resturant in fact you can even where they serve alcohol unless the law here has changed. You CANNOT take any weapon into a government facility without authorization such as a post office. That's a no-no.
One thing is, if u carry concealed, you'd better make sure it is concealed or you will lose your ticket to carry it. Some states honor out of state permits, when I get a chance, I'll check up online and get back to you on that one.

Re: How often do you carry?
I know what states I can carry in and what states I can't. I found a website that lists all of out-of-state stuff. I have it in my bookmarks somewhere.
I knew about the government building thing (hence, why I can't take my sidearm to work). I have a girlfriend who suggested a guy that makes leather items, for a concealment purse for me... she has one from the guy and you can't tell there's a weapon in it at all. I didn't even know that it was a concealment purse until she showed it to me.

My only issue with concealment purses is that they are not actually ON your body, they are great as a last resort, say, if you were wearing shorts and a tank top and couldnt conceal a firearm, but say if you were the victim of a street robbery or a purse snatching, the person snatches your purse...Now he has your wallet, cash, credit cards, personal information from your I.D..............And your gun...
Not sure I am cool with that.

Re: How often do you carry?
Good point. That's probably what I would use it for (the shorts and t-shirt thing). I would really like to find a nice ankle holster that would work. Unfortunately, I have 2 pairs of boots that I've been wearing a lot, so the ankle holster wouldn't work too well. My girlfriend that has the concealment purse also has a back holster (on the belt) that works really well for her. It was even custom designed for her.
I might have to find a good leather guy near by that can do that for me. I do have a regular belt holster that works well for me. I'll just start with that for now, and see how it goes.

Re: How often do you carry?
So, I was checking out the policies on a local company's movie theater (not a big movie chain), and it turns out that the movies isn't the best place to carry....

I will respect a company's policy.... although, shouldn't it be posted on a door or a window at the location? I don't recall seeing it anywhere.

A company has a right to tell you not to being a weapon on the property although they can;t have you arrested for it, the most they can do is tell you to leave and possibly bar you from coming back.

An ankle holstered gun is harder to get to. The best thing i can recommend is get a strong side holster. One that goes in the small of the back is good unless you are seated like in a car or something..If someone pushed you over and you fell on your back if you're lucky, you'll just have back probs. I have been carrying a firearm for 17 years and over time you learn these things.. many things go into carrying, various scenarios should be played through the old "what if...?"
I carry almost exclusively on my right hip (since I am right handed)
Also, you never mentioned the make and model of your gun. There are some good gun shops that sell great leather holsters I use a Don Hume leather belt holster for my two Glocks and I have a Safariland paddle holster for my Ruger P-90. Even though it is a full size gun the Safariland Makes it easy to carry/conceal.

Re: How often do you carry?
I haven't had the time to look lately. Hopefully in the next few weeks I'll have time to go out and try some on.
