    What is Kabbalah?

    Post  juggy4711 on Sun May 20, 2012 5:40 pm

I've seen the word thrown around in the media in relation to celebrities and what not. I have a favorite author that used references to Sephiroth and Golem.

What is Kabbalah exactly in the proper context?

Kabbalah is the mystical aspect of Judaism. It's something that is not taught to someone who is not a very highly skilled Talmid Chacham. Dabbling in Kabbalah can be dangerous, on the flip side, it is amazingly spiritual.

"Celebrities" who claim to practice Kabbalah have no idea what they are talking about or doing.

Want to read a great account of Kabbalah? Read about the Maharal of Praque, or the adventure into the Pardes by Rabbi Akiva and his contemporaries.

Is Talmid Chacham a high priest or something of that nature? Also do you mean mystic as in magick?

A Talmid Chacham is a Torah Scholar.

Mystical meaning that it's on a plain all it's own and one can't understand it without first being a Talmid Chacham.
