    Book repair. Empty Book repair.

My Stone Edition T'nach had really taken a beating over time. Was wondering if it would cost more to take it to a a place that repairs books or just try to repair it myself.. The Spine has gotten weak and I am afraid the pages may start pulling away from it and then it will start to fall apart.
Is there any way that one can do their own book repair for hardbacks? I have no experience in this matter.
    Thanks.

There is a Rabbi at my shul who repairs our seforim. It looks easy enough... he uses a black cloth tape, does a pretty good job.

He uses a black cloth tape about 1.5" wide to reinforce the inside and outside cover on the front and back.... works pretty well.

I have the same Chumash..... love it! If you cannot repair it what would you do with it? Does one Retire an old Torah to the bookshelf? What is the Halaka for retiring an old Religious book? I know there is special procedures for this.

Unusable seforim that are in disrepair should be buried. The Shul should have a "shemos" box. Once the box is full, they bury the seforim.

I think there is a brachah as well.
